That Time of Year Again...

Once a year Glasgow becomes host to my favourite annual event.

The BBC Good Food Show.

The one day a year you can find, eat, buy and try new food guilt-free.

Until of course, a week later you find yourself 10 pounds heavier and your wallet far too light for comfort, with only wrappers and receipts as a reminder of how you enjoyed the food show.

But I digress.

For that day, and that day only, gorge to your heart’s content – and leave the stress for tomorrow.

Here is it: The Food Show!

The Pan Asian Kitchen always has an enormous queue, which meant for the last 3 years I've had to have lunch elsewhere.

But not this year.

I ordered the Spicy Hoisin Chicken wrap, while my companions went for a different approach.

Yes. That is an entire pineapple.

Located in a huge hall within the SECC, the Food Show is separated into multiple sections.

Right at the back there's a small area to rest, eat and enjoy the pop-up stations; to the right, a stage where a number of chefs and TV personalities show off their culinary skills; and everywhere in between are a variety of different food and drink stalls.

The stalls change every year but there are always the old favourites.

This year the Saucisson stand outdid itself. Usually with hazelnuts, spices and herbs, this year there were multiple meats, cheeses, fruit and fungus.

WARNING: Roquefort Cheese Saucisson is not for the faint of heart.

Some hours later, laden with loot, we started to leave.

I say started, but we didn't get very far.

You see, we had spotted a stand called the "Bubble Waffle."

Bubble.

Waffle.

We really had no choice but to buy some.

But like I said, guilt-free day of the year.

Just don't think about it too hard...
